Steph and Garry: Palo Alto Wedding
We ran around quite a bit on Steph and Garry’s big day to capture all the special moments. Starting at Garry’s old place with the boys, we headed to the Crowne Plaza Cabana to capture the girls getting ready. A quick stop at Stanford University for some shots of the couple and right to the First United Method Church in Palo Alto for the ceremony. Two “I Do”, a few tears, and one big kiss later, we grabbed the wedding party and headed back to Stanford for group session and... Read The Rest →
Steph and Garry: Wedding Portraits
We took advantage of Stanford’s beautiful campus to get these wedding portraits. Maybe deep down it’s the part of me that loves food too much, but I always try to keep the wedding portraits short if it’s after the ceremony. This way, the wedding party doesn’t miss out on the cocktail hours and all the delicious little hors d’oeuvres. For this reason, whenever possible, I try to do this before the ceremony. I get everyone’s full attention since no one’s rushing to get to the specialty cocktails. Check out the... Read The Rest →
DJ TechPro & DJ Chris Garcia Product Shoot
Last weekend, I flew to Vegas for just over 24 hours to do a product shoot for DJ TechPro and their new headphones designed for DJ Chris Garcia. Somewhere before and after the shoot, I managed to eat more than $24.95 worth of food at the Bellagio Buffet, sweated off the weight I put on by walking down the strip in 100+ degree heat and lost $1 at an airport slot machine. We shot at the legendary Drai’s after-hours lounge where Chris is a resident DJ. I’m never going to... Read The Rest →
Stacy and Tushar: Marin Art & Garden Wedding
Stacy and Tushar met as counselors at a summer camp for youths. As their friends tell the story, she looked right past his sarcastic English tough boy demeanor and saw a caring and warm-hearted person who she would be spending the rest of her days with. They got married at the beautiful Marin Art & Garden center on a bright and warm sunny day with friends and family coming from all over. Their routinely relax attitudes carried over to the actual wedding day, making it all the more pleasant to... Read The Rest →
Stacy and Tushar: Wedding Portraits
After the ceremony, the entire wedding party was plenty relaxed so we retreated back to home base for a quick group portrait session before I sent them off with enough time to enjoy the cocktail hour. The group had such a natural dynamic amongst them that I simply just let them interact with each other as I looked for that moment to click away. When I asked the girls to maneuver their way into the flower patch, it easily could have been a no-go, but Stacy and her bridesmaids simply... Read The Rest →
Jamie and Sinclair: Engagement Session
When Jamie and I discussed the locations for our shot, she wanted something that was iconic San Francisco but also wasn’t your typical tourist hotspot. We decided to incorporate the Golden Gate Bridge into our shoot without it being the dominant component and found the Marin Headlands to be the perfect location for that. The camera naturally loves these two with their big smiles and the fun attitude captured shot after shot.
Steph and Garry: Engagement Session
Steph and Garry chose two locations that had meaning to them. Garry’s old stomping grounds, the Mission District, with its vibrant murals and culture and Land’s End, where they return to several times a year. I brought a blanket along to brave the San Francisco cold, especially over at Land’s End, but to our luck, the wind was mostly absent. Bonus part of the shoot: grabbing some mid-shoot tacos in the Mission.
Alexis and Emilio: Engagement Session
It is always nice when you are introduced to a cool new location to shoot and that’s what happened when Alexis and Emilio proposed the Adventure Playground over in the East Bay for their engagement session. Before the shoot, they said it was a cool little playground that was actually built by children with real hammers and nails. Not your typical plastic schoolyard jungle gym, but one actually made from real wood, imperfect and as creative as a child’s imagination. It was too bad we only had a few moments... Read The Rest →
Ann and Jason: Wedding Portraits
Ann and Jason wanted to mingle with the guests and actually try some of the hors-d’oeuvres and specialty drinks they chose for the cocktail hour, so we shot their portrait sessions before the ceremony, leaving them plenty of time after the ceremony to relax before the dinner. The property around the Sembler Residence at Saddlerock Ranch was simply amazing. They have domestic and exotic animals, a giant frame literally framing the Malibu vista, a random rustic standalone door along the side of the road and a complete vineyard. We hardly... Ann and Jason: Saddlerock Ranch Wedding
Ann and Jason celebrated their Saddlerock Ranch wedding in full on style with a perfect blend of professional and DIY decor. Everything from the DJ, florist, and caterer was spot on. The day started off with the girls getting ready in their bridal suite at the Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village in their oriental robes. The boys meanwhile put on their finishing touches on-site at the ranch. The massive property was a dream to shoot with everything from a zebras and camels to a giant frame overlooking the Malibu mountains.... Read The Rest →
Stacy and Tushar: Engagement Session
I loved my session with Stacy and Tushar. Not only were they completely in love, but after a few minutes at each location, the session was all about them. I was free to just capture the moment and and their personalities. Updated 8/2/2011: Stacy and Tushar are now married. You can view their wedding portraits and wedding photos.
Ann and Jason: Engagement Session
Ann and Jason. Two friends of mine and completely awesome people who attended University with me. When I first started shooting portraits back in college, Ann was one of my first willing subjects. To this day, those photos are still some of my favorite portraits. When the opportunity came up to shoot their engagement and wedding, I jumped at it knowing these two would bring their great smile and fashion sense along with them. All I would have to do is click away. While back in LA for a couple... Read The Rest →
